Matthew Lawson is a First Assistant Director (1stAD) with ten years' experience in the TV and film industries. After a start in drama, Matthew worked his way up from third AD to first AD through steady, energetic effort.
A First Assistant Director for the past six years, Matthew moved into the commercial and music video markets 2 years ago and continues to shoot with in the feature film market as well.
Matt deftly manages changing environments working closely with the director and production to achieve a smooth shoot in a relaxed pleasant environment, allowing the Director to focus on the job at hand.
He is a well-respected and dedicated member of the industry and a founding member of the Assistant Directors Association as well as development consultant for Watt Wenn Scheduling.
Matt has partnered up with fellow 1st AD James Twyford to be able to offer productions a unique AD dynamic when shooting with two units.
Both of who have a wide range of experience such as: multi-unit Scheduling, Stunt & Wire work, SFX using miniatures, explosives; green screen; VFX, ship-to-ship, surface & underwater sequences in tanks and open water, aerial work: ground-to-air and Air to ground, as well as fire arms, work period work and battle scenes.
Matthew has recently joined Chapters Diary Service where he is now represented.
